Fascinating, Colorful Attractions Surround Our Mazatlán Resort Homes And Condos

El Cid Real Estate connects you with the heart and soul of Mazatlán – perhaps the ideal city for savoring the true flavor of Mexico.

Mazatlán is built on and around a long peninsula with long, wide, sandy beaches and rolling surf. Feast on fresh seafood in one of the many charming seaside restaurants. Take a pulmonia (an inexpensive taxi resembling a suped-up golf cart) and explore downtown. Watch a spectacular sunset over the blue Pacific, take a romantic sunset cruise, or just enjoy a relaxing stroll on the Malecon – Mazatlán’s bustling yet beautiful waterfront boardwalk.

Mazatlán is unique among Mexican vacation destinations and is a real working seaport. It’s home to the largest shrimp-fishing fleet in the Pacific, a major brewery, a large coffee roasting plant, and other important industries.

A dynamic range of alluring sights and attractions is near our Mazatlán resort real estate, including:
  • Plazuela Machado -- Named for Juan Nepomuceno Machado, who donated the land, this small park is also built around a gazebo. Beautiful flora complements the surrounding colonial buildings, which are now home to many charming cafes.
  • Angela Peralta Theater – Mexico’s only seaside theater. The theater itself was completed around 1890, but a 1975 hurricane almost entirely destroyed its interior. Workers recovered most of the decorations and re-created the original design, and it appears today almost exactly as it did in the 19th century. The theater continues to operate, hosting folkloric dance, opera, and symphonic performances.
  • Mercado Central -- This indoor/outdoor marketplace is one square block of stalls offering clothing, jewelry, produce, meats, and more. As this is where the locals shop, be sure to bargain with the vendors.
  • Catedral de la Purísima Concepcion (Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception) -- Open from 6 a.m.to 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Begun in 1856 and completed in 1899, this Moorish-style church has twin blue and gold spires and a gilded ornate triple altar.
  • Plaza de la Revolucion -- With a gazebo as its center, this small landscaped park is surrounded by merchant stalls selling food, clothes, soaps, jewelry, leather goods, and other handicrafts.
  • The Aquarium and Botanical Gardens -- See more than 50 fresh and saltwater tanks with sharks, eels, seahorses, lobsters, and over 250 exotic species from around the world. Also enjoy an interesting sea museum, a trained seal show, and an auditorium with films about sea life. Open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. A tiny zoo and botanical gardens (el JardÍn Botánico) are nearby.
  • El Quelite – Located between the Sierra Madre Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. Great flora and fauna exist in the area.
  • El Faro Lighthouse – This 110-foot-tall structure is considered the second highest natural lighthouse in the world.
  • Copala – An ancient mining town, with red roofs, steep, cobblestoned streets, and smiling, hospitable people, where time seems to have stood still. Copala boasts a number of pleasant restaurants and shops offering a range of handicrafts from all over the country.
  • Deer Island – The largest of Mazatlán's beautiful and secluded coastal islands. Rich in the diversity of its plant and bird life, the island is part of a reserve network that includes all the islands in the Sea of Cortez.
  • National Institute of Anthropology and History -- Take in early Mexican pottery, sports equipment, figurines, and arrowheads. Perhaps most interesting is a display containing human remains, including three skulls illustrating the flattened foreheads that were so fashionable centuries ago. A small courtyard in the back of the museum is home to a metal sculpture garden.
  • Sea Shell City Museum -- Find gorgeous seashell and silver jewelry, coconut art, and wind chimes. Aquariums surround a large fountain and sea shell mosaics. Marvel at a vast display of different types of shells, and even some whale bones! Open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Clavadista Divers – Watch these brave cliff divers make death-defying leaps.
